Errrm, creature from a dream. I think he's a bit scary...
Name: Sea Tortoise (also known as shipping tortoise)
Appearance: All sea tortoises appear the same. They have large, blood red shells and long fleshy necks. Their flippers resemble wings or seal fins and have glowing blue box-like marks. They have three glowing blue eyes and a scar-like glowing mark under their eyes. Their teeth are sharp and yellowed and their skin is heavily wrinkled. These behemoths are easily as tall as a large pirate ship, probably bigger. They can swallow a man whole without a problem.
Behavior: Sea tortoises are actually quite docile despite their gruesome appearance. They usually feed off of large fish in the ocean and have no desire to attack land based creatures. Even if provoked the tortoise will probably not respond, they are much too large to notice anything a person could do to them- although, some hunters have developed methods to kill and enrage the giant beasts. It is possible that these creatures are capable of speech, but they take much too long to formulate any words for a human to pay any attention.
Abilities: These tortoises have acidic saliva; anything they swallow will be in for a world of hurt. Their throat is well muscled and has soft lining, but is coated in acid. Prey they swallow will not usually die until it reaches the stomach. Being so large these creatures have never needed to kill anything before eating it, seeing as very few things can even harm them. These creatures can also walk swiftly on land if they wish to, although they almost never set foot on ground. Their flipper like fins allow them to hobble around like a seal and they can travel at pretty good speed this way, faster than an ordinary sea turtle anyway. They can also breath under water due to gills on their neck and on land.
History: For countless years the inhabitants of Ravenís Eye (A small Island lost far out in the sea) have used these sea tortoises to ship goods back to the mainland. Since the tortoises are so large the great distance is nothing to them and can easily be covered in a matter of days. This is why these creatures are also known as shipping tortoises. It is believed by some that the sea tortoises are ancient gods or demigods. Three live at the port on Ravenís Eye. Gortearian, Gargus, and Gorthum. The villagers worship the creatures as gods and the village shaman is the only one who has the power to kill one.
Story: There are three brothers, the first, Gortearian, is put to rest by his village shaman when he goes into a berserk rage killing most of his handlers and threating the life of Ravenís Eye. The second, youngest brother, Gorthum is driven into insanity by hunters. They hope to gain the ultimate prize, killing a sea tortoise and claiming his organs. They flood the village and after many men are killed and the village torn asunder the shaman once again has no choice but to put the tortoise to rest. After these incidences the rest of the world no longer deems sea tortoises as safe and the last, eldest of the three, Gargus is hunted. He flees deep into the ocean and remains there to this day. If any human is lucky, or smart enough, to find his lair he will share with them his ancient wisdom and tell stories of the old days.
I started to write the story of what happened in my dream, but it sucked so I gave up.
